There are many different tools when looking at building a website. Being in the Website Maintenance and Design class gave me the opportunity to experiments with HTML, Wix, and WordPress. Wix, WordPress and Joomla are all website development tools that can assist you in building the most functional website. These tools make your website usable, accessible, findable, and desirable. Wix is a website that allows you to build your own site where you can add text, pictures, buttons, images, galleries, slideshows, videos, menus and much more. I got the chance to build quite a few websites using the Wix program, as well as maintenance on others sites. I found it easy to use and it create beautiful results. They have so much that allows you to get creative and make the perfect website. On the Wix sidebar they have editing options of background, adding text, images, interactions, light boxes etc. You can make it personal by uploading you own content, and they give you options to have multiple pages, as well as sub pages. There is a ruler around the outer page of the site, allowing you to get the alignment and proximity correct. Wix was my favorite website builder to use because it had so many options and the accessibility was great. I love all the font choices, color theme choices, and free pictures they offer. The next website development tool I experimented with was WordPress. WordPress is a self-hosting blogging tool and it’s actually the largest in the world. Millions of sites use WordPress every day. It is a free publishing software and content management system. I created a tourism site using WordPress, as well as was the editor, administrator, contributor, and author to other people’s sites. I found WordPress a little more difficult to use at first until I got the idea around my head. The site that unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to build on was Joomla which is another free open-source content management system. It is used for publishing content of your choice. Joomla is very popular website software because of its ease-of-use and accessibility. These are all great website developing tools that will help you make the website you want whether it be for a business or for personal use. The online world is full of resources that are there to help us so we should take advantage of them!
